Ministries. The ministry of mercy

There is nothing as important as to learn to love those who are around us. “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends” — that was what Jesus taught (John 15:12).

In 2007 the church “Philadelphia” started serving the elderly. The youth take an active part in this ministry. We do what we could to help our brothers and sisters who are lonely and ill. We congratulate those who are more than 70 years old, visit those who can’t attend church meetings with a holy communion, come to the lonely and give them financial assistance within the limits of the possible.

God is love. He loves believers and unbelievers in the same way offering the eternal life to everybody. “He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous” (Matthew 5:45). We gather together and pray so that God will lead the ministry of mercy beyond the church walls.

About two years ago during the project “Feel the power of change” the doors of the infectious diseases hospital, AIDS department, were opened for our church. Visiting the gravely ill who need a kind smile, attention and sympathy we saw how God loves those who were left by their relatives and the society. More than ten sick people have repented and accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and the Savior. It is worth mentioning that young brothers and sisters serve with love and care to children with AIDS, play with them and tell them about Jesus Christ.

Mercy is a character of God’s love and a sure remedy against arrogance because the life lived just for oneself is vain and meaningless!
