Children and teens. Sunday school

The Sunday school of the Philadelphia church is greeting you!

Children and adults need to hear God’s word and about the salvation from their sins.

A child is God’s creation; his heart does not search after selfish advantages and does not have wrong motives. A child’s heart is ready to forgive and forget; their heart is pure and open. Their heart accepts all new things as good or bad. Therefore, it’s very important to raise up our children from the very beginning and to teach them God’s commandments. Here is what the Bible tells us:

“Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it”. (Prov 22:6, NASU)

It’s essential to put God’s word in children's hearts from their childhood. If we don’t do that, we are going to lose them. The world, which is around our children, is very severe, full of drugs, there is propaganda of violence, illegal sex, and much more. Neither a child nor a teenager is able to confront many hours and various images of immorality, because they are not mature yet. Therefore the church is responsible to help parents raise up their children, because they are the future of the entire nation. One of the ways to accomplish that aim is Sunday school. So, what are the goals of Sunday school?

Sunday school is where we minister to children. This is where our children get Christian education and obtain the real experience. Sunday school, as all other church ministries, is called to achieve God’s will, so that nobody could perish, but to have a chance to hear the Good news. One of the most significant goals of Sunday school, is to study biblical stories and teach children the Jesus Truths, which are so necessary for a child to be saved and be able to use them in a concrete way in his life.

There is one more goal of Sunday school, that’s training kids in obedience to their parents in order that they could have a promised blessing in the Bible:

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER (which is the first commandment with a promise), SO THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU, AND THAT YOU MAY LIVE LONG ON THE EARTH.

(Eph 6:1-3; NASU)

When a child comes to church he has to realize that he comes to Jesus Christ. He must feel as though he belongs to God’s large family. He is supposed to experience the living God.

This is exactly the kind of atmosphere a children’s worker has to arrange to serve little ones. That worker has to feel by his heart, that this is the ministry he is called to. He should feel for children and have a desire to help them. God is showing his love and care to children through people like that.

We want to present here some testimonies of people, called by God to minister to children in the “Philadelphia” church.
