Jesus Christ is our life

Jesus Christ is our life – this theme for Sunday sermon perfectly suited the joyful event in the church’s life – the communion. Senior pastor of the church ‘Filadelfia’ Pavel Zhelnovakov said that we live according to the laws of two kingdoms. According to their nature people belong to the earthly kingdom and its value system, and as Christians we belong to God’s kingdom. No matter how acute or – the other way round – almost unnoticeable the conflict between these kingdoms may be in our life, it still can be seen in us (in our dreams and wishes).

What does it mean – ‘Jesus is our life’? Indeed, this is true as the Bible says: ‘Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your LIFE, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory’ (Colossians 3:1-4).

God doesn’t keep silence about the nature of this life: ‘Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit’ (John 3:5-6). It means that no matter how good our actions and thoughts that belong to the earthly kingdom are they are just from the flesh. The true faithfulness, peace and joy are possible only in the Holy Spirit. It is for those who belong to God’s kingdom.

This life is given through the sacrament of being born again revealing God’s power because the law of the Spirit of life sets us free. Without accepting this life we will always fail ad will experience the law of sin and death, because to it is impossible to please God without the spirit.

Our part begins with the choice – everyday choice that we make almost every second. We confirm our determination to follow God. We watch our thoughts following the spiritual path, that is the life. We are fed by the Word of life. Being in Christ we give Him an opportunity to act freely in our life.

The communion became the real holy day in the church’s life. Senior pastor reminded that we shouldn’t lack prayers, first of all about the church building construction, that is why the three following days were said to become the days for a prayer with the fasting for this part of the church life.
