On September 13 at the Sunday meeting of the church “Philadelphia” there was a prayer for 20 people(they were baptized the previous week) for their baptizing by the Holy Spirit. Pastors and ministers of the church prayed putting hands on them for their getting gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The sermon of pastor of worship Sergei Tensin was dedicated to baptizing by the Holy Spirit. He told about the power of the spirit. How often do we feel it? In 1 Corinthians there is a lot about importance of these gifts’ manifestation. Paul says that these manifestations are given for the common good, the good of the church. We are called to serve with these gifts if we have got them.
Every one of us has got electricity, different lamps and lights, but if we don’t put on the light, this electricity power will not manifest itself. This was an example given by senior pastor Pavel Zhelnovakov to show that if we don’t act, than there will not be any fruit. God often uses us to make His will. Having decided to bring His people out of the land of Egypt, God sent Moses. Jesus Christ sends His disciples to bring the light of the good news to people. Sometimes we have to choose to go and act in the way God wants us to act or to behave as if it was said to somebody else. Sometimes we just put off the time of this decision, ending by forgetting this at all.
To prepare the way for His Son the heavenly Father sends John the Baptist. His sermon wasn’t pleasant for many people because it struggled with their defects: “As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: "A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all mankind will see God's salvation” (Luke 3:4-6).
This is a lonely voice. Who can hear it? It seems to be for no one in particular, but it makes me responsible for what is going on in the world. We tend to blame somebody else: bad family background, psychological wounds and so on and so forth. God calls us to bring order to our life and hear this voice. After the sermon Pavel Ivanovich prayed for those who must do this. There were about thirty people near the stage who needed this prayer. They had heard this voice.
