Should we be afraid of death? It is beyond our control and we don’t know when it comes. One thing is clear — we should live our life so that we wouldn’t be ashamed of the wasted years. This was the topic Yuri Baburin talked about at the Sunday meeting of the church “Philadelphia” on 28 June. The day before the entire world had known the breaking news about the death of Michael Jackson, “the king of pop-music”. Known for his musical talent the singer spent his life in luxury and fame. Has he preserved his soul, has he given his life to God? Paul warns us in one of his epistles: “Make the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil”. Before we have time to think in the thick of our business, here death is knocking at the door. Will we be able to present a good fruit of our life on the earth? We are just strangers here. Our home is on the heavens.
Senior pastor Pavel Ivanovich Zhelnovakov paid attention to one of the essential features of contemporary people — indifference. Meanwhile God calls us to burn with fire. Not smoulder, not smoke, but burn. There are wonderful words about this in Revelation 3:14-16: “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm — neither hot nor cold — I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” God is dissatisfied with our indifference in relationship with Him, in ministry and actions He calls us to. The heart flaming with love to God is a condition of His presence in us. This fire is natural to His character. His consuming fire destroys all garbage that can be in our hearts, melting them, changing everything within. This fire takes care of us, warms us. We are to have it because we are the light of the world.
This time instead of the choir the worship service was performed by the musical group of pastor Sergei Tensin. The well-known songs were played in a new way using the pipe and the violin.
