On November 25 a regional conference dedicated to questions of leadership was held in “Philadelphia” church in Izhevsk. The invited speaker of the conference was Bishop, First Deputy Head Bishop of the RCCEF, Deputy Head Bishop in Northwestern Federal District Nikolay Zalutsky. Ministers from Votkinsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Kirov, Samara and other cities and localities of the Udmurt Republic and neighboring regions came to the conference.

First and foremost the minister emphasized that our relationships with God are of paramount importance: they define our leadership and relationships with people. He also gave the primarily criteria of the biblical leaders, such as influence, readiness to pay the price, the implementation of biblical principles, not theoretical study only.

The first session of the conference was dedicated to the character of a leader. Basing on the Bible passages, the minister pointed out what leaders should be aimed at from the God’s point of view. Firstly, it is the love for studying of the Holy Scripture that is the source of wisdom and order (2 Timothy 3:15-17). Among many important leaders’ traits the following were listed: lowliness in spirit, eagerness to follow their pastor, ability to teach, being courageous to admit their failures.

The second session revealed the questions of a team work. Every member of the team must realize the team’s common goals, because these goals will motivate and discipline them. Every member of the team must know the area of their responsibility. The atmosphere in the team plays a very important role, too, because the team members must know they are not alone. The minister emphasized another principle – the value of every one and dividing of the glory. The motto “one for all and all for one” should be used in the team and it means that the ministers must be interchangeable.

During the third session the topic of the relationships among the team was proceeded. The speaker exemplified biblical characters – Moses, Aaron and Hur. When during the fight Moses’s hands grew tired and lowered and the Israelites were losing, Aaron and Hur held his hands up, so the enemy was getting weaker. The team work is not always easy but we must make up for the shortcomings of others by our advantages and vise versa. In the end of the conference Nikolay Zalutsky prayed for the church and encouraged the present to be an example for the many, being firm and hoping for God’s strength and guidance.
